Legendary dragons are coming to Gdańsk. An extraordinary exhibition for fantasy fans and everyone else

From 01/08 to 29/08

Everyone has heard of them, but no one has ever seen them. Until this summer, that is! Creatures known from legends, fairy tales, mythology and popular contemporary series are set to fly into Gdańsk. From 1 August, the Auchan Gdańsk shopping centre will host the free exhibition ‘The Lost World of Dragons’, where visitors will see mystical reptiles inspired by, amongst others, the novels of George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien and the ‘Dragon Ball’ series.

We know them from fairy tales, mythology from various corners of the world, modern literature and cinema, and now you’ll be able to see them in the flesh. On Saturday, 1 August, the Auchan Gdańsk shopping centre will host an exhibition that will transport visitors straight into a fantasy world. During the free exhibition ‘The Lost World of Dragons’, the shopping centre will feature as many as nine dragons and two dragon eggs, inspired by medieval bestiaries, Viking mythology, Slavic legends, the ‘Dragon Ball’ series, and the novels of George R.R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien.

All the models have been crafted with meticulous attention to the smallest details; some move and make sounds, making the creatures seem even more realistic and allowing visitors to feel like real fairy-tale heroes. The dragons, several metres long and weighing over 100 kg, are set against a rich backdrop filled with plants, boulders and various props, such as swords and knights’ shields. In addition, each model is accompanied by a plaque containing detailed information about the reptiles.

The free exhibition “The Lost World of Dragons” at the Auchan Gdańsk shopping centre will run from 1 to 29 August.
